Welcome to the Urban Design Concept page for the Charles Street reconstruction project. This and the following pages depict Urban Design Concepts developed by Wallace Roberts & Todd (WRT) in support of the June 24, 2004 public meeting held at the BMA (see other pages on this web site for meeting notes and the full PowerPoint). During the April 26, 2005 Stakeholders meeting, and prior to initiation of preliminary design by the RK&K/WRT Team, Stakeholders requested an opportunity to provide formal comments on the June 24, 2004 urban design concepts.

Please follow the directions contained herein to review these June 24, 2004 Preliminary Concepts and offer your comments/suggestions. Comments must be received on this web site on or before Wednesday May 18, 2005. All comments received by this date will be considered by Baltimore City and the RK&K/WRT design team as they begin preliminary design activities, on June 1, 2005. The following schedule is anticipated for the development of 30% complete plans for the reconstruction of Charles Street between 25 th Street and University Parkway.

By Friday April 29, 2005	For review and comment by the Stakeholders, RK&K to post on the project's website WRT's conceptual landscape features/urban design images from June 24, 2004 Public Meeting, along with preliminary sketches from Johns Hopkins University for the St. Paul Street project and any other landscape elements which should be considered.
By Wednesday May 18, 2005	Stakeholders to provide comments via e-mail for all images posted on the project web site. Greenway Community Association representatives to provide advice on 34 th Street intersection options.
By June 1, 2005	RK&K/WRT team to begin preliminary design under contract to City DOT.
July 19, 2005 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM @ BMA - Hess Board Rm	Follow-up Stakeholders meeting with City and RK&K/WRT representatives to discuss landscape comments and establish landscape “pallet” to be utilized during the 60% Design Plan development process.
August - September - October	RK&K/WRT Team to complete 30% plans.
Late October 2005	Distribution of 30% plans to City, State, and Federal representatives.
November 2005	Stakeholders meeting.
